THE! WINTER FDCTURE BALANCE SHEET PRESENTED -SHOWS FINANCIAL LOSS. POSITION NOT UNEXPE CTED. At the meetipg of the executive ,committee of the Rotorua A. and P. Association last night, ■ at which Mr. -H. P. Ford presided, a rough' balance sheet of the recent Winter Show was presented. The accompanying report showed that, taken on the whole, there was a very Satisfactory increase in the efitries this year. But the fields competition was disappointing. There were only 16 entries and the result was a loss of £17. It was not possible tp eontinue the competition 0x1 AJjtis basis. The expenses were at least £20. The whole matter will he rqferred" t6 th'e " incoming committee for considration, The balance sheet showed that entries this year had brought in £60 0s 6d ; donations, £0 4s; prafit _Qn dance, £6 12s 3d, sale of.^space £8, gate takings, £64 ls 6d In addition subscrjptions due amounted to £27, subscriptions to come £8, space payments to come £3. This makes a total of £185 18s 3d. On the other side of the ledr ger expenses amounted to £373. 18s 7d, but a considerable amount of this sum was spent upon plant which can be placed in the capital account. Heavy Rejatal One of the items in th.e balancp sheet was £65 for rent of the show building and this raised discussibii upon the 'much-vexed question pf providing- a proper show building. The chairman, in referring to this account, said it was plain that thp association would have to copsider thp erection of its own building. Mr. E. T. Johnson supported this view and held that the associatipn could never hope to draw the public unless attractions could be provided. It was necessary to increase the gate money. The secretary, Mr. H. Wilkinsop, said that events had proved that thiey could not get the public unless they could provide the attractions ixi the way of side shows. By making the necessary provision they could increase their entries 100 per cent. It . was too long to postpone considera.tion of the new building for twelve months. Eventually it was decided to. call a special meeting to discuss the queStipn prior to the annual meeting.
