NEW PLYMOUTH, Friday The slxortage of coal ixx Taranaki, as the resxxlt of the strike,.has jxecome acute. Merchants' hunkers are practically exhausted to-day, and the Taranaki mines are unahle to supply sufficient coal. Even if the nortftem mines resume on Monday, it will he at least a week before relief cornes. The prospeets of shipxnents frqm the West coasts are indefinite.
