COUNTERFEITERS' PLANT
SET UP IN PRISON. Three counterfeiters in Genoa, driven to desperation by the constant attentions of the police, hit upon the novel plan of setting up a miniature plant for the production of spurious coins and notes in prison, under the misguided impression that the prison would be the last place the police would he likely to think of in looking for them. Large quantities of eounterfeit money had in fact made its appearance in 'Genoa, and the police, tracing it back to its source, were higRly surprised to find that it was produced by the three prisoners in the local gaol. It is a mystery, however, how they obtained the materials to earry on their illegal activities, or how they succeeded in smuggling the forged money out of the prison. A warder has been arrested charged with gross negligence.
