NEW ZEALAND SCORES LAST MINUTE VICTORY. TWO POINT margin.

SYDNEY, Saturday. The All Blacks' Australian totir opened a't Sydney to-day before 30,000 spectators, a fast open game resnlting in a victory for the visL tors by 13 points' to 11. In the first spell the New South Wales side, hoth bhck' and forward, played an attacking game and frequently had the All Blacks h'emmed iri their own tweiify-five. The end of the spell saw the honte team with a three points advan'tage. However, in the second half New Zealand managed to settle down and gradoally gained the ascendancy, Cottrell scoring the winning try as time was called. All Blacks Defend. From the kick off New South Wales earried play into New Zea- ' land territory, Pollock sending them back with a long kick. Play was held ! at half way for a time until Towers again placed his team on attack with i a good kick. The home forwards were heeling the ball from the set

scrums and New Zealand were forced J to relieve the pressure with line j kicks. Good Back Play. A dangerous situation developed for New Zealand when the New South Wales backs staged a bright passirig rush on the All Blacks' line, ' but Collins found the line with a nice | kick. The first score was registered after a fine effort by the New South Wales forwards, Campbell touching down near the side line. Ross missed the N.S.W. 3. New Zealand 0. Play was held up for a time, Ball being temporarily hurt. The New South Wales forwards instituted further attacks, but Steere and Solomon turned the attack 'and gave New Zealand a chance which was not accepted. Play was at half way at the end of the spell. Second Spell. Collins was caught in possession immediately after the resumption of play, but the forwards saved the situation, Steere being injured, and play held up for a time. New Zealand gained much ground as a result of i a fine run by Bullock-Douglas, and play centred at half way. A forward rush hy New Zealand severely tried out the home defences, but a penalty against the All Blacks enabled Ross to clear to half way. New South Wales had a turn on attack, but j Caughey cleared with a fine kick. All Blacks Improve. Back and forward, New Zealand was now gaining the advantage in play, a spectacular dash by Caughey nearly resulting in a try. The All Blacks maintained the attack and were finally rewarded with a try. Collins' kick was charged down. N.S.W. 3. New Zealand 3. Following play enabled New South Wales to stage a series of attacks from which Malcolm scored near the posts, Ross converting. N.S.W. 8. New Zealand 3. Clever play hy Caughey placed New Zealand on attack again, and Bullock-Douglas nearly scored. The All Blacks' backs were now handling bette'r and Lilburne was nearly over. A further attack enabled BullockDouglas to score after a brilliant dash. Pollock converted with a fine kick. N.S.W.. 8. New Zealand 8. In a further attack New South Wales were nearly over and were again attacking when a penalty awarded against the All Blacks saw Ross kick a goal. N.S.W. 11. New Zealand 8. All Blacks Ahead. Cerutti cleared in face of a strong attack by New Zealand^ and tight play followed. Flashing into action, Caughey, Pollock, and Bullock- Douglas made ground for New Zealand, the latter being thrown into touch. New Zealand maintained the attack and Ross cleared magnifieently. New Zealand were now attacking almost continUously, and from a drop-out the visiting forwards swept to the line where Cottrell again scored. Pollock converted as the bell was rung. New Zealand 13.
