Rebellious soldiers and sailors are thronging the streets of Bankok. There are tanks and maehine guns everyvvhere. A later message from Singapore confirms the report that the rebellion was successful. The people demand a constitutional monarchy, following which a sditable prince would bei appointed king. The King has replied accepting all conditions, and complete order now prevails. The King states that he agrees to the conditions in order to avoid bloodshed. He had long had a constitutional svstem in his mind. but as he is a

frail man he feels that he is unable to carry the burden any longer. Siam is an absolute monarchy, and ruled at the present time by Projadhipok I. It has a population of 11,500,000, and is 195,000 square miles in extent. Banlcok is the capital.
