GRAND THEATRE.
SATURDAY. The towering buildings, the blazing lights of the streets, the onrush of t'raffic, the 'palatial hotels, the theatres, the shops; and something deeper, the exotic mingling of innumerable races, the roar of its civilization, the stark man power of everything, the thrill of vicarious experience, the entanglement of human destinies in a great city. All these are in Fox Films' "Skyline," which opens at the Grand Theatre,
Saturday. "Skyline" tells liow a youth leaves his cruel stepfather after his mother's death, and gets work on a skyscraper being erected by his real father, whom he does not know but hates for having deserted his mother. How he falls in love with a sweet girl, and is rescued from a siren's coils by his father, works toward the gripping climax of recognition. The ever popular Thomas Meighan portrays the role of the father, while Hardie Albright enacts the role of the boy. Maureen O'Sullivan appears as the girl with whom he falls in love. Myrna Loy and Donald Dillaway also have featured roles. The cast supporting the featured players includes Stanley Fields, Jack Kennedy, Alice Ward, Robert MeWade and Lee Shumway. Close to 1,000 extras and "but" players were required to transfer this epic of New York City to the screen and massive settings, reflecting the spirit of the metropolis, were erected.
