DRIPPED FROM HIDES ON TO MUTTON AND LAMB CARGO A BROADCAST WARNING

-By Telceranh — Copyngiit)

LONDON, Wednesday. A disquieting announcemcnt by Dr. Parry, health otficer at Bristol, states an examination of 13,666 carcases of New Zealand lamb and mutton just discharged at Avonmouth, showed that many were stained with arsenic, which had apparently dripped from hides stored in the hold above. ■ Out of 1101 carcases at present 'examined, 301 were more or less stained and some have been condemned. A warning broadcast has been issued to wholesalers at Avonmouth and Bristol in case some of the tainted carcases were not detected. The same ship carried consignments to Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow, to which warnings have been sent. The beef was not affected.
