JUDGES HONOURED

ROTORUA A. AND P. ASSN. GIVES COMPLIMENTARY DINNER. To mark the successful launching of the Winter Show yesterday, and as a mark of apprec.iation of the work of the judges, the Rotorua A. and P. Association last evening tendered a complimentary dinner to the judges and show officials and their friends. The function, which took place at the "Bungalow," was a most soeiahle and enjoyahle gathering. Proposing the toast of ''ICindred Associations," Mr. H. M. Martin spoke of the fine work being unohtrusively done in all centres by A. and P. associations, and other allied bodies in stimulating interest in agricultural matters. The work of the associations also brought the townspeople in closer touch with the country follc, and vice versa, and thus in turn, brought about a better understanding between the rural andurban . communities. Mr. Ford also remarked on the falling off of interest in agriculture and urged that this should be stimulated as a means of overcoming the country 's present difficulties. The Mayor, Mr. T. Jackson, replied thanlcing the speaker for the remarks, and, also those present for the manner in which the toast had heen honoured. Proposing the toast of honour, "The Judges," the president of the association, Mr. H. P. Ford, said that tho work of the judges was one of the more important factors in the success or otherwise of the show. He had been impressed by the manner in which the judges had eome forward to assist the project with their general and practical knowledge. Their advice, he said, was very valuable, and he was glad of this opportunity of asking the judges to exprcss their opinions. The judges in the various sections appropriatcly responded, paying a tribute to tho standard of the exhibits and to the hospitality extended them by the association.
