RUGBY UNION

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE HOLDS WEEKLY MEETING. SCHOOL TEAM'S PROTEST. A protest entered by Ngongotaha in one of the games under the Primary School Association, when Ngongotaha was awarded the decision against Convent, as a result of the latter team fielding a boy over weight, was the subject of considerable discussion at Monday night's meeting of the Rotorua Rugby Union. Mr. T. S. Robertson oceupied the chair. Mr. Windler, who objected to the decision of the association, stated that the protest was not entered until about 10 days after the match was played. He also explained that the boy was only one and a half pounds over the weight limit of seven stone when weighed fully clothed at the beginning of the season. After the protest the boy was again weighed and was within the specified weight. No objection had been raised by Ngongotaha at the time of the match concerned. Mr. Windler pointed out that the association was under the jurisdiction of the Rotorua Rugby sub-Union, and that he would like the matter settled by that body. The secretary was instructed to communicate with the secretary of the Primary School Association to obtain further information. A letter was received from the Rotorua Women's Club, expressing appreciation for the donation of £4 10s, the gate money talcen during "Benefit Day" at Arawa Park. The secretary was instructed to invite a representative team from Taupo to visit Rotorua on July 16, as the senior selector wished to finalise the combined representative team to play for the Waikato cup fixtures. As the first round of the junior competition ends on Saturday, it was decided that a second round be played by the leading seven teams. The remaining two with the addition of the High School seconds and another team from Ngongotaha were constituted a junior B Grade, and games will be provided for them for the remainder of the season.
