Vast crowds turned out to welcome the Papal Legate,: Cardinal Lauri, on his arrival, at Kingston, where he was received -by the Archbishop of Dublin and Mr. de Valera, Thousands lined the roadside in enlotional. fervour as the Legate passed over the seven mile route, hlessing the multitude. ■ ' . This is the first tiine a Papal Legate has landed in Ireland for 290 years. Dunlaoghaire . Harbour' was ablaze with flags, every ship being fully dressed, as the Free State-. cavalry in their hussar unjform of gold and blue with yellow plumes on their busbies waited the fanfare of trunqaets to escort the Papal Legate's car. Not | a single British flag was visible. ! It is expected that £3,000,000 will be spent in Dublin in connection with the Eucharistic Congress, as there will be 100,000 visitors alone and 1,000,000 froni the Irish provinees spending at least a week in the eity.
