influential quarters make move for peace.
-By Teiegr3ph— Copyright).
CALCUTTA, Tuesday. Efforts are being made in a number of influential quarters in India to initiate peace talks with Mahatma Gandhi, the latest being the Servants of India Society, which has sent a deputation to the Veravda gaol where Gandhi is imprisoned, to ask Mrs. Naidu to approach the Congress leader. Gandhi's views are not known, though it is regarded as unlikely he will agree unless his terms are aceepted. I1r is understood the Government ■ has no intention of risking another compromise with Congress by the release of prisoners or the removal of an opportunity or reiterating the oftrepeated demands to set up a Con-gress-controlled Government.
