CLAYTON ROAD.
J. H.
HERROLD.
(To the Editor) Sir, — I was pleased to see that somebody else besides myself is "fed up" at the state of Clayton Road (as per letter of the 20th inst.), and anyone driving over same will quite agree with your correspondent that it is "the worst road round Rotorua." He also suggests that there are plenty of unemployed about, but quite a number have been worlcing on this road at various times, and still are so doing, but what use is this work without proper supervision? Gangs of men were employed piling material on the sides of the metal, thus forming* watertables in the centre of the road. Although metal is outcropping- all along Clayton Road the pot holes and ruts are filled up with mud or road washings, and of course are washed out again with the first rain. I guarantee that if the money expended on this road from the time the "unemployed" were first "put on" until now, had heen used to the best advantage Clayton Road would have been one of the hest instead of the worst roads round Rotorua.
