Visitors to Whakarewarewa. Notwithstanding the winter weather and prevailing depression Maori guides state that the nnmher of visitors to Whakarewarewa has been quite up to the average lately. Record Winter Show. The secretary of the Rotorua A. and P. Association, Mr. H. Wilkinson reports that indications are for an excellent Winter Show this year. The garden section has increased by 100 per cent. on last year's entries and the field section is larger by at least 50 per cent. Entries for all the other sections are also far better than expected and are greatly in excess of last year's figures. It is expected that the exhibits this year will constitute a record for Rotorua and that the fioor space will be filled to capacity. W.D.F.U. Meets. The Rotorua branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union met on Friday when over 30 members were present. Parcels of clothing for re-niaking and distribution were sorted, and when the business of the evening was concluded, a most enjoyable hour was spent in music and competitions. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Moule, P. Jackson, C. Robinson, Philson, Donovan, W. Coulter, . Beaumont, Turton and Windley. A competition held during the afternoon was won by Miss J. Martin. Painful Eye Injury. A painful injury to the right eye was received by an elderly man, Mr. John James Hull, while scrub cutting at Rotoiti yesterday on the Government land scheme in that area. It is understood that Mr. Hull cnt a supplejack which sprang back and struck him in the eye. He was immediately brought into Rotorua by a private car and admitted to King George V. Hospital. Ohinemutu Blow-outs. There has been no further activity from the two thermal blow-outs which oecurred in Tnhoukotuku Street, Ohinemutu, since the eruption subsided on Saturday afternoon. The street for the present has been closed by the borough authorities, and until all reasonable possibility of danger has passed, access will remained closed. The borough engineer, Mr. F. C. Bunyard, stated yesterday, that as soon as it appears safe to do so, the two vents will be piped off and the roadway reformed. Storm-water Culveris. The flow of storm-water which previously cut deep channels across the roads at the intersections of Devon and Carnot Streets with the Whaka Road, has now been effectively dealt with by the installation of culverts. Similar methods are also being used at the junction of Seddon Street with Whaka Road, and this work will be completed shortly. Grading of Referees. At last night's meeting of the Rotorua Rugby Referees' Association, Rotorua referees were graded into senior and junior divisions in the following order: Senior — 1, R. G. Webb; 2, R. Mason; 3, L.
