seat of hamilton member on Auckland iiarbour board irregularities proved

HAMILTON, Friday. The adjourned hearing of the petition lodged by supporters of Mr A. S. Sutherland, of Ngaruawahia, against the return of Mr. A- Livingstone, of Whatawhata, to representation on the Auckland Harbour Board, was taken before Mr. Wyvern Wilson S.M., in the Hamilton Magistrate's Court this afternoon. A scrutiny was dire'cted at the initial hearing on the grounds of alleged irregularities in the voting at the Matahura and Te Akau booths. Mr. George S. Clark, registrar of the Supreme Court, who conducted the scrutiny, detailed the irregularities discovered by him in a number of booths. These included dual and triple voting and irregularities in declaration voting. Counsel drew attention to the fact that out of 72 polling booths only five had been scrutinised. His Worship formally declared the election void and ordered petitioner's deposit to he returned. ♦=* •** ,
