YviELLINGTON, Friday. Rumours have been current that the Government intends to increase the wages tax, bnt the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon G. W. Forbes, stated to-day that Cabinet has not given any consideration to such a proposal. It is no secret, he said, that the funds of the Unemployment board are being strained to the uttermost, but any suggestion that an incresase in the wages tax is being considered is emphatically denied.
