PROBLEM PICTURE
WATERLOO BRIDGE. Waterloo Bridge, showing at the De ! Luxe Theatre, on Thursday and. Fri- ' day, is a picture which will probably ' arouse a good deal of argument amongst spectators as it did in the : studios. The §tory is of what one , might term the seamy side of London. It portrays the gradual downfall of Myra, a one-time chorus girl. She meets a young Canadian soldier on Waterloo Bridge, He falls in love , with her and she with him. She feels that she cannot marry him be;cause of her past life. In his love ' for her he is prepared to let bygones be bygones. A struggle ensues between Myra's affections and her sense of honour. There are many poignant scenes bei tweC'n Myra and her boy and his mother. The point that causes the argument is whether Myra should have waited and married her soldier as she promised to, or whether she was right in committing suicide rather than disgrace his future with the shadows of her past.
