TASMANIAN COMPANY TO PRODUCE SUPPLY OF NEWSPRINT

- HOBART, Thursday. The House of Assembly carried the second reading of the Wood, Pulp and Paper Industry Bill, which grants rights and concessions to a private company over 182,000 acres of land in the Florentine Valley for the purpose of the manufacture of wood pulp. A paper company has undertaken to produce 90,000 tons of newsprint a year. The Bill was referred to a Select Committee whose report is expected to he tabled next week.
