The Government meteorologist lasued the following weather report and forecast last night: — Generald situatio'n: An intense cyclone is moving on to the Dominion to-day, and an intensive depression of an easterly type is approaching New Zealand. Forecast: Winds strong northeasterlies to 'nortlierlies, backing to westerly and in places temporarily to southerly. Weather: Cloudy, unsettled and squally and general rain with many heavy showers, especially from Marlborough and Nelson northward with some flooding; snow on high country. Following are the barometer, maxlmum and minimum thermometer, ana rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department, for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday: — Barometer 29.573ins. Thermometer (max.) 47.5deg. Thermometer (min. on grass) 39.8deg Rainfall 0.34in.
