PLUNKET WORK

ANNUAL MEETING OP ROTORUA DISTRICT BRANCH. The annual meeting of the Rotorua branch of the Whakatane Plunket Society was held in the Methodist: Hall on Tuesday. The president, Mrs. F. W. Wilkie, presided over a fair attendance. Apologies for absence were received from Mrs. B. M. Green, Mrs. H. G. Smith and Miss Johnstone. The president, in opening the meeting, saicl that it was disappointing that young mothers showed such a lack of interest in Plunket work when it was for their benefit that the branch was formed in Rotorua. A letter was read from the secretary of the Whakatane Plunket Society, requesting that the Rotorua committee arrange to hold its annual meeting as soon as was convenient, as March 31 was the end of the Society's financial year. The report and balance-sheet were adopted without comment. The latter showed the - branch to he in a sound financial position, the receipts being £37 8s 5d and the expenditure £3 16s. There was now a memhership of 44. The election of officers resulted: President, Mrs. S. H. Hay; vice-pre-sidents, Mrs. F. W. Wilkie; hon, secretary and treasurer, Mrs. J. Halkett; representative to Whakatane, Mrs. F. W. Wilkie; advisory board, Dr. H. Bertram, Dr. S. H. Hay, Dr. W. S. Wallis and Mr. F. W. Wilkie; hon. auditor, Mr. E. Roe; committee', Mrs. E. H. Tyler, Mrs. E. Roe, Mrs. G. French, Mrs. E. G. Davey, Mrs. A. J. Isdale and Mrs. H. C. Smith. A vote of thanks was carried to Mrs. Wilkie for the use of her room for meetings and for her kind hospitality to the members of the Plunket ; committee. It was decided that the nurse be engaged from July 1 and that she visit Rotorua on Tuesday of each week. The meeting was brought to a close with afternoon tea served by Mesdames Hay, Wallis and Roe.
