'Lasca of the Rio Grande" opens on Saturday at the Grand Theatre. Under the direction of Edward Laemmle, "Lasca" .players in colourful Mexican costumes and Western frontier outfits were photographed against backgrounds of Spanish haciendas yrith graceful arches and, exquisite landscapirig, in valleys rich in foliage and on the tops of high mountain ridges overlooking the painted desefts. A gay iiesta, which is interrupted by the eager conflict. between two jealous meri, has as its backgroimd a picturesque Spanish home and in each sequence Directpr Laemmle has framed, his fast action in beautiful and distinctiye settings. . . Leo Carrillo appears as Santa Cruz, a border bandit and bold romancer, iri. "Lasca .of the ;Rio Qraride," John Mack Broiyn is featured as a Texas rariger arid Dorothy Burgess plays the title role to the. hilt. Slim Summerville arid Fr'ank Campe.au, as two uncouth prospectors,. provide the . humorous side of the swift moving story.
