DEPARTURE OF PROHIBITION EASIEST WAY TO TEMPERANCE

NEW YORK, Saturday. Mr. Alfred Sloan, president of the ■ General Motors Corporation, and one ' of the country's leading industrialists, has announced his conversion to the belief that the best road to tsmperance lies in the repeal of the Eighteenth Amendment. Mr. Sloan, who with Mr. Ford, is often cited as an outstanding business leader, and who felt that the country's industrial efficiency has been increased by prohibition, tcfe day declares the lawlessness is the result of prohibition. It has, he said, created a general condition far more damaging to the present or future stability of the country than any benefit that would qtherwise be enjoyed.
