LADIES' HOCKEY

N.Z. COUNCIL SUGGESTION NOT ACCEPTABLE TO ROTORUA ASSN. EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETS An executive committee meeting of the Rotorua Ladies' Hockey Association was held on Monday evening, Miss Carnachan presiding over a fair attendance of members and delegates. A letter was received from the Otago Ladies' Hockey Association advisiting that it was making application for the Dominion tournament this season, and asking the support of the Rotorua Association. It was decided that as the association was already committed to support the application of Malborough, no action could be taken in the direction desired. The suggestion of the N.Z. Women's Hockey Association that Te Puke, being in the Tauranga County, should be under the control of the Auckland Ladies' Hockey Association did not meet with the support of members, it being pointed out that Te Puke had been affiliated with the Rotorua Association for five years and had already paid aifiliation fees for the present season. The secretary was instructed to advise the New Zealand body to this effect. A report on the King's Birthday tourney was presented by the secretary, who stated that the refreshment stall had resulted in a satisfactory profit to the association and also that the Rotorua A team had been successful in retaining possession of the Aard Cup for the present season. On completion of the discussion on the results of the tourney, Mr. C. Mitchell moved that a vote of thanks be accorded the referees and helpers who had been responsible for the successful running of the tournament, the motion being carried by acclamation. The question of disciplining certain players who had failed to notify the selectors of their decision not to I take their places in the Rotorua teams on June 3 was discussed and the secretary instructed to write the players concerned asking explanation of their default. The draw for next Saturday's matches is as follows. Whippets v. Mamaku 2 p.m., Arawa v. Mourea, 3 p.m. Shamrocks v. Hinemoa, 3 p.m. All games will be played on the Government grounds.
