WHAKATANE ODDFELLOWS STAGE SUCCESSFUL REVEL

WHAKATANE, Monday. A very successful evening was held in the King Street Hall by the Rebekah and Centenary Lodges of the Independent Order ' of Oddfellows. The hall was attractively decorated, one side with pink and green streamers (Rebekah Lodge colours), and the other side with red and silver (Centenary Lodge colours). Chinese Ianterns between made a striking effect. The Symphony Dance Orchestra provided the music. Supper arrangements, in the hands of Messrs. McTavish, Hume, Wo'ods, Holmes, Norman Miles and Green, left little to be desired. Mr. J. Miles, V.G., of the Centenary Lodge, carried out the duties of M.C. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Mr. F. Smedley and Miss Bridger, and prizes for costumes were awarded as f ollows: — Best dressed couple (Golliwogs), Mr. Wetherall and Mrs. Newman; best lady's costume,' Miss Kenny (Shepherdess) ; best man's costume, Mr. R. Chapman (Count Dracula) . Those in fancy costumes were: — Mrs. Hodson (Eastern Lady), Mrs. Free (Night), Mrs. Miles (Folly), Mrs. Con. Clark (Gipsy Megg), Mrs. Bach (Ribbon Fan), Mrs. P. Green (Belgian Girl), Mrs. Norman (Witeh), Mrs. Newman (Golliwog), Mrs. Wetherall (Golliwog), Mrs. Wilson (Night), Miss L. Hamilton (Taneatua (English Lady), Miss Kenny (Shepherdess), Miss Hume (Modern Satan), Mrs. Frank (Roumanian Girl) , Miss A. Cartwright (Bold Bucaneer), Miss J. Mclsaac (Frivolity), Miss M. Woods (Gipsy), Miss E. Cartwright (Official Steward), Miss M. Adeock (Japanese Girl), Miss L. Thorburn (Eastern Lady) , Miss G. Jones (Early Victorian)*, Miss N. Davies, Taneatua (Gipsy Lady), Miss E. Butler, Opotiki (Eastern Lady), Mr. C. Wylde, Waimana (Hard Up), Mr. R. Chapman (Count Dracula), Mr. A. Piggales (Domino), Mr. F. H. Berseman (Golliwog), Mr. M.
