SYDNEY, Monday. The Chief Secretary, Mr. f. Chaffey, stated that a perusa-1 of the flies of his department has disclosed that the late Chief Secretary, Mr. GosISng had ignored a recommendation by the police, and had refused to prosecute a prommeni northern Trades Hall offlcial "Bondy" Hoare. Ac.cording to the flies the police recommended that Hoare should be prosecuted for offensivo words in relation to the King in a speech at Islington in May of last year. Hoare said that while others stood up while the National Anthem was being playhe (Hoare) sat down, and while Ihe people said "God Save the King," he said "God damn the King." Mr. Chaffey added that as the offence occurred last year, and as the papers had been withheld by the Minister for thirteen months it was not possible now for proceedings to be instituted.
