FARMERS' UNION

A meeting of the Farmers' Union executive was held at the office of Mr T. H. Pearson, secretary. Those present were Mr A. e. Martin (chairman) Messrs W. S. White, W. Bradshaw, N. Stevenson, A. Forbes and J. Dunlop. A letter containing the f ollowing resolution was sent to the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, the Postmaster-General, the Hon. Adam Hamilton and Mr K. S. Williams, M.P., for the district: "That we urge upon the Government to reduce the price of telephone service, otherwise it will have a lot of dead lines on its hands." The Railway Protection Leagiie at Tauranga was advised that this bfanch of the Farmers' Union would senil a delegate to a meeting of the league when held, for the purpose of pressing the claims of the Opotiki district for railway service.
