MAORI ATTACKS BULL WITH SLASHER SIX MONTIIS' IMPRISONMENT

OPOTIKI, Wednesday. A Maori named Nepia Porikapa, who was charged with striking a bull with a slasher, was sentenced to six moiiths' with hard labour, in the Police Court to-day. The police stated that razor-like wounds had been inflicted by the accused while the bull was tangled in a fence. The Bench said tbe crime was a fiendish one and regretted that corporal punishment could not be inflicted.
