WASHINGTON, Tuesday. Half an hour after Mr. Hoover d to-day endorsed the special manuiturers' saies tax before the Senits financial committee again ected this disputed levy by 12 :es to 8. He ilared that he did not favour a leral saies tax system, providing a y on every sale from the wholeer to the retailer to the consumer. wever, he endorsed the special nufacturers' excise saies tax along 1 ^nes recommended by the House Representatives Ways and Committee, and twice rejectoy the House. This tax is levied y once upon a commodity, when is sold by the manufacturer.
