SAYINGS BANK BOOK IN STOCKING. While it was a common custom to hide val'uables in old stockirigs some years ago, it is not usually dorie' now. Reeently, however, an elderly man died in Opotiki and amongst his effects was an old stocking. Fortunately someone thought of looking inside this and to his astonishment found a Post Office Savings Bank book showing quite a fair sum of money deposited in the bank. Prior to the discovery it was not known that the deceased possessed an account of this nature.
