OPEN LETTER

N.

CARMICHAEL,

TO THE OITIZENS OF. ROTORUA Sir,—' The Salvation Army in 'every town and city of this fair Dominion of ours, is endeavouring in this time of depression and sore need, to alleviate distress and to bring cheer to all who are in genuine want. Will you help us in our local work in Rotorua? We have may calls made daily, by personal application and 'many appeals through the post. A lad out of work needing a stamp to send a letter home; another lad wanting blankets to take to a job awaiting him; men wanting shoes and boots mended. Can we assist ? A mother writes from a settlement not far distant, could we help, in sending bedding, blankets, clothes, for eight children who are cold and need clothes, with father sick in bed, and not able to go back to relief work. Knocking at the door, these bitterly cold nights, 'men wanting shelter, a bed for the night, and a meal. We do what we can in practical assistance, but funds are low indeed, the cupboard that had so many garments to be distributed during the long winter months, is now almost empty. What are we to do ? Certainly we cannot turn deaf ears to a genuine call for assistance. We appeal to the reader, you who have been generous in times past, to give what you can. Remember it is a case of "Inasmuch" and the Heavenly Father is debtor to no man, woman, or child, but He will remember, and reward you. May God bless you and y our s . — Y ours f aithf ull v.

Captain.
