ROBS SLEEPING FAMILY AND DEPARTS IN VICTIM'S MOTOR-CAR MIDNIGHT BURGLAR'S IIAUL

AUCKLAND, Tuesday. After entering and robbing a house in Epsom last night while the occupants were asleep, a daring thief walked to the rear of the property and, entering the garage, stjle a motor car and drove away in it. The house entered was the cRvelling of Mr. Bertram James Walker, 127 St. Andrew^s Road. Mr and Mrs Walker and their family retired : 10 o'clock, after securely loclcin; the house. The thief gained entrance by forcing a window in tbe wash-house, which is attached to the house. He crept into the house without disturbing the sleeping occupants and in the dining room found a purse containing £5 He then went out by the back door, afteri unlocking it from the insde. Mr. Walker 's daughter said this morning that she heard someone moVing about the house at midnight, hut thought it was her father, and she went off to sleep again. The garage from where Mr. Walker's motor car was taken was not locked, although the doors were closed. The car is a 1925 touring model, painted red, and bears the registered number 8420.
