— By Telegi aph — Copyrlght).
Rec. May 18, 7.50 p.m. LONDON, "Wedesday. A poignant tragedy occured in a London hospital. Elizabeth Lloyd (36) wife of a South Wales miner, suffered a disfiguring facial disease and as a last resource was sent to the famous surgeon, Sir Harold' Gillies, who worked six month to restore the patient's features. The surgeon was surprisingly successful, and when the bandages were remove'd, many medical students flocked to the ward to view the result. When a mirror was handecl to Mrs. Lloyd, she said: "What a surprise for my hushand when he comes to see me." On Whit Monday the husband duly arrived and stayed at the hospital for ten hours, chatting continuously with his wife and giving her news of their ten-year-old boy. They were apparently very happy. The nurse left the room for a few moments and heard a piercing scream. She rushed back and saw Mr. Lloyd lying across his wife's bed with his throat cut.. His wife, who was similarly injured died a few hours later. The husband may recover. There is not any reeord of the cause of the tragedy.
