UNION CLAIMS DECISION OF TRIBUNAL IS TOO INDEFINITE ALTERNATIVE OFFER MADE

CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. Members of the Tramway Union held meetings this afternoon and evening to consider the award of Mr. A. T. Donnelly and the tribunal. At the co'nclusion of the meeting to-night. a union official made a statement which in effect, is a rejection of the decision of the chairman of the tribunal on the grounds that it is too indefinite to be acted upon. The union made an offer to the board of another basis of settlement. that all memhers of the traffic staff be reinstated in their former positions and that they ration the available work with the 60 volunteers whom Mr'. Donnelly stipulates must he retained in their employment. The union makes a proviso that all other members of the union in other departments be reinstated in their former positions.
