More ,than 25,000 persons headed by the Mayor, Mr. Walker marcbed in a parade which Iasted for 12 hours, bearing placards: "We want Beer" and recounting tbe benefits to the nation's finances, both private and public, that would be derived from it. There would be £100,000,000 in annual revenue from a Federal excise tax alone. Many organised crowds in the city, includsng Tammany Hall, participated. It is estimated that 1,000,000 persons lined the streets throughout the march.
