PAY ON SATURDAY
ALTERATION IN SYSTEM FOR RELIEF WOREERS COUNCIL DECISION The Rotorua Borough Council last evening decided to alter its present system and pay all relief workers in its empToy on Saturdays instead of on Mondays as at present. The change was made at the request of the Rotorua Relief Workers' Asso.ciation which pointed out that the fact that the men could not obtain their wages before the week-end, in many cases entailed real hardship. Cr. E. T. Johnson supported the request and pointed out that the County Council was at present paying on Satufdays. The Mayor, Mr. T. Jackson, said that he thought the change would assist the men and that it might be given a trial. It would be possible to make the payments on a Saturday under the new1 2, 3 and 4 day system, but it had not been possible previously under the five -day week, as returns could not be completed in time. It was decided to inst-itute the change for a trial period. •
