scene at "hotel MAN ATTEMFTS TO VORCB ENTRANCE TO GSflL'S • BEDROOM. DRINKING METHYLATED SPIRITS The window-breaking penchant appears to have arriyed in Rotorua at last. As a result of this performance, Larsen made his appearance before Mr. S. L. Paterson, S.M., in the Rotorua Magistrate's Court yesterday morning charged with drunkenness, theft, and committing wilful mischief . He pleaded guilty to all three char-
ges. Senior-S'ergt. Carroll said that at 11.30 o'clock on Tuesday night, Larsen had gone to a private hotel in the town and had demanded admiUance to the bedroom of one of the waitress- | es with whom he was friendly. When the girl refused, he drove his fist through the window and attempted to get into the room. He found that one broken window was insufficient, kowever, so he broke another. The girl, however, seized an opportunity to escape and give the alarm, with the result that when Larse i finally got intd the room he found that she was gone. Apparently Larsen then removed a quantity of jewellery, which was found in his possession when he was later found by two constables in Eruera Street. He was very drunk at the time. Drinking Methylated, Larsen had been aboui: Rotorua i'or some time on relief work and. hau been sleeping at the doss-liouse.
