LONDON, Tuesday. THE Standing Committee by 27 votes to 23 passed an amendment limiting the operation of the Sunday Performances Bill to London. Hon. O. Stanley (Under Secretary to the Home Department) in opposing the amendment said the Government regarded it as vital that some Bill should be passed in the present session. It is understood the Government has decided itself to introduce a meastire legalising present Sunday openings, and allowing other municipalities to secure same after taking a poll of the people.
