AGREEMENT SIGNED BETWEEN CHINA AND JAPAN STATEMENT IN COMMONS £

RUGBY, Thursday. In the House of Commons the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Sir John Simon, expressed gratification at being able to inform the House that the agreement between the Chinese and Japanese Governments in reference to Shanghai had been signed at noon to-day. He was not yet in possession of the exact text, But would lay it before the House at the earliest possible moment. Sir John Simon added: "I am sure the House will share my satisfaction that the two parties have come to this agreement, which the untiring efforts of Sir Miles Lampson (the British Minister), in conjunction with the French, Italian and United States representatives greatly cohtributed io bring about." ;
