Maori Agriculturists
After a prolonged period of 60 years' rest from agricultural pursuits, the King Country natives have awakened from their slumbers to become growers and exporters of wheat. Last week 500 bushels of wheat were eonsigned from Te Kumi railway station, two miles from Te Kuiti, by a Maori farmer, with many more hundreds of bushels to follow. Sixty years ago the Maoris of the King Country exported wheat to Auckland, the means of transport being then by water. The Te Kumi natives Intend milling their own flour and have placed an order for the necessary machinery, which is expected to arrive shortly. mmmmtrnmw \i i m
