TRANSPORT CONTROL
C.
J. TUCK.
(To the Editor.) Sir, — LI crave space in your valuable paper, with thousands of others, to protest against the iniquitous injustice of the Transport Board in depriving of his business one, who has been endeavouring to earn an honest living under our present system. I refer to Mr. C. Frances — who has for the last fourteen years been running a passenger bus about and around Rotorua. One could understana the board's tyrannical action if he were running in competition with the railway, but to deprive of his license a man with a large family to keep and at his age, where there is no possible hope of him taking up another run in the town where he can earn enough to keep his family and himself out of debt — is nothing more or less than despotical tyranny. Tallc about Freedom within the Bri^ tish Empire? Ye Gods! Here ancf now I beseech every humane and just-minded person to protest against the action of men (who are well paid and fed) from depriving an honest man and his family of their living. Sir, the Transport Board's action would be justified if we were being suitably compensated — or we were creating a socialistic community, but under the present system. Well, Mr. Editor, if I was in the bush I could tell you better what my opinion of the matter is. — I am, etc.,
