THE WEATHER
The Government meteorologist issued the following weather report and forecast last night: — ' General Situation: Pressure still lies to the East and North of New Zealand while an intense anticyclone extends from Tasmania toward the southern portion. Forecast: Winds, south-easterly to southerly, still strong in many places, of gale force at times in parts of the Cook Strait area and between Kaikoura and the East Cape. Weather: Mainiy fair to fine in the western par.ts of the South Isiahd, eisewhere still squally and changeable with showers, heavy in places between Kaikoura and the East Cape. eisewhere light and scattered; tem'pera- • tures cold;~a"gradual improvement likeiy especiaily in Thg western districts.
