BREAKDOWN IN MAIN LINE TRAN SFORMER AT WHAKATANE * -

WHAKATANE, Saturday. A hreakdown has occurred in oiie of the Whakatane Borough Council's main line transformers and in order to reduce the consumption of power all heating services have had to be suspended. So far, the lighting system has not been affected. As it was necessary to send the transfornier to Auckland for repairs and in order to save time it was loaded on one of the Borough CoUncil's motor-trucks and taken through hy road. Leaving Whakatane at 8.30 p.m. the truck delivered its lood safely in . Auckland at 11 a.m. the next morning.
