FRENCH LIBERATE LAST GERMAN PRISONER OF WAR ALSATIAN GRANTED PARDON

BERLIN, Tuesday. The last German war prisoner has now been liberated and repatriated. When he was captured the French authorities court-mar-tialled him on the ground that, as he was an Alsatian by birth he ought not to have joined the German Army, and he was sentenced to life detention at the penal colony in French Guiana. In response to the German GoVernment's representations the President, M. Doumer granted a pardon.
