FURTHER MOVE IN FEDERAL CAMPAIGN AGAINST t MR. LANG COMPULSION ON STATE

Req. April 27, 11 p.m, CANBERRA, Wednesday. Railway and tramway revenue throughput New South Wales is being attached by the Commonwealth upder the Bill to amend the Financial Agreement Enforcement Act introduced by the Prime Minister, 1 Mr. J. A. Byons, and ppssed in the House of New South Wales Railway officials, Nw South Wals Rafiway officials, who are now using railway money for the payment of salaries, wages and other outgoings, will be required to hand over to the Commonwealth the whole of their receipts, and similarly the tramway officials. The Bill will also compel the New South Wales Premier, Mr. J. T. Lang, to continue licenses for totalisators, the revenue from which will be attached. Despite anything that Mr. Lang may do, the Prime Minister said that the Government was determined to fight to preserve the good name of Australia. New South Wales now owed the Commonwealth £2,225,000, while if Mr. Lang decided also tp default with internal interest, the total owing by the end of next June, would be considerably increased.
