POPULARITY OF TRAMPING

Tramping as a pastime has certainly "caught on" in Christchurch, for 13 clubs wish to join the newlyformed association of tramping clubs (states the Christchurch "Times"). Rules and a constitution have been drawn up, and at a further meeting of the association officers will be elected. Tramping Clubs have been formed at Christ's College and the Boys' High School, and others are under formation by the Canterbury College Women's Association and the Girls' High School Old Girls' Association. The tramping association has sponsored a hostel scheme for trampers, and this has evidently proved an inducement for club formation. Trampers are already eonsidering walks on the Banks Peninsula under this scheme.
