Force of Action
Ranging the table with his fist was frequently the method of emphasis adopted by Mr. R. Semple, M.P., in an address in Waimate recently. When the speaker got going well and the bangs became more frequent the chairman (Mr. G. Dash) quietly removed his watch from the table. The force with which Mr. Semple often brought his fist down was surpris- ■ : ing, but toward the end, after he : had thumped the bare wood a couple • of times, it seemed he took care to 1 select his bundle of papers for his 1 next strike.
