George III. Half-Crown

Tendered as change in a Christchurch shop over 20 years ago, a half-crown minted in 1816 was showri to a reporter by a Christchurch resident, who kept the coin in the first place merely because he realised that it was nearly a hundred years old. The reighing monarch was George III., and while the coat of arins is more involved than that -on the modern coin, the size is exactly the same.
