french aviators establish new record
NO SLEEP DURING JOURNEY
— By Telegraph— Oopyrlght).
Rec. April 21, 11 p.m. CAPE TOWN, Thursday. Captain Goulette and Lieutenant Salel, the French aviators landed at 12.40 and were greeted by 2000 persons many being in evening dress, who shouted "Vive La France" as a" prelude to the crowd singing the "Marseillaise." Captain Goulette said he had met heavy winds in the latter stages .
but the engine ran like a watch. A, sand storm over the Sahara enforced blind flying for several hours and a lightning storm over Nigeria compelled him to make a circuit flight. His Greenwich time was 3 days 17 hours 15 minutes. He did not sleep throughout. The Frenchmen have thus beaten Mr j. A. MollisoiVs record for a flight from Europe to Cape Town. They, however, started from France, not England, and followed a different route.
