BLUE BATHS
CONSTRUCTION OF MAIN POOL TO CONTINUE IN THE MEANTIME WORK WELL FORWARD Although the definite extent of the authority has not been indicated owing to pressure of Parliamentary business, it is understood that the work at present proeeeding on the completion of the main pool at the Blue Baths will continue for the present. Following the completion of the juvenile pool at present in use, the Public Work's Department had certain surplus funds available for the work, and these were accordingly employed to push forward the completion of the entire scheme which incorporates the contruction of the main swimming pool. So far as the limited funds available have permitted, the work has been earried forward until at the present time, the back of the undertaking has been broken. Over 2000 yards of concrete have already been laid, the foundation for the pool has been completed and the concreting of the side walls and dressing room accomodation is well forward. The only substantial portion of the work still rqmaining to be completed, is the No. 3 block which includes the proposed tea-rooms and pavilions. It has been suggested in some quarters that the completion of the Blue Baths might be indefinitely postponed under the Government's economy proposals, but this is largely off-set by the fact that the juvenile section already completed has proved a most productive source of revenue, and that the work on the main pool is already so far advanced.
