UNEMPLOYMENT IN AUCKLAND NOT SUPPQRTING STRIKE PUBLIC LESS APPREIiENSIVE
-By Telegraph — Copyright) .
AUCKLAND, Tuesday. More men are 'at work to-day on relief jobs than yesterday and the position generally has shown improvement. Because of threats which those men who remained at work at Devenport complain" were made by the strilcers, the employed men requested the Borough Council to close down the relief jobs till Thursday. The -council acquiesced. The atmosphere created by last week's riots is now notieeably calmer. Precautions have not been relaxed in the slightest; rather they have been increased, but there is much less apprehension in the public mind.
