TAUPO SUPPORTS SECESSION FROM BAY OF PLENTY NEW CLUB AT MOUREA The delegate from . the Rotorua Rugby Union, Mr. L. Clarke, who visited Taupo last week to ascertain that sub-union's wishes regarding the proposal of the union to secede from the Bay of Plenty Union and join the Waikato Union reported at last night's meeting of the Rotorua executive that Taupo had decided to give their support to the proposal. Mr. Clarke said that at first he did not think Rotorua had a chance of getting Taupo to consent, but when he had explained the matter fully they had finally decided to agree to the proposal.1 The delegate said that he felt that Taupo had reeeived very poor treatment from Rotorua in the past and recommended that certain concessions should be made to them. Mr. Clarke's recommendations were approved. Mr. A. G. Cottrell reported that, with Mr. A. de Luen, he had attended the annual meeting of the- Mourea Football Club and that this new club j would enter a senior team and perhaps a junior team for affiliation with the Rotorua Union. A sub-comm'ittee was set up composed of Messrs W. G. Harwood, Cottrell and de Luen, to go into the team lists submitted and to report to the next meeting of the management committee. Mr. McPherson recommended that any player should be required to be financial by the tlr'rd playing Saturday in the season and that the secretaries of clubs be requested to forward lists of their financ:al players. This was to facilitate transfers of players from one team to another. A further recommendation was made by Mr. Harwood" that at the end of the three weeks the secretaries of clubs be asked to supply the names of unfinancial members, and that if no notificat:on is reeeived the club shall stand responsible for such subscriptions. A players classification committee was set up consisting of Messrs H. Rogers, T. Anderson and T. S. Robertson. The Taupo sub-union is to be informed that the Rotorua Union is cons:dering a suitable date early in the season for a match at Taupo and suggests June 3 as suitable. As Mr. G. Dansey had not attended for three successive meetings of the union his seat was declared forfeit and Mr L. E. Dixon was elected to the vacancy.
